COVID-19 app: your guide to self-assessment
The COVID-19 pandemic has had significant impacts on everyday life; affecting travel, education, social gatherings and the financial market. The NSW government issued changes to the public health order on 14 September 2020, with penalties enforceable for those failing to comply.
Businesses are now able to operate under specific restrictions and are required to allow employees to work from home where practically possible. Organisations are required to comply with national and state health directives, assess the risk and minimise the spread of the virus. To aid in the transition to meet regulations, we have developed a COVID-19 self-assessment checklist available on our mobile application.
Our checklist gives you the ability to evaluate whether or not an employee is equipped to be back in the workplace. The checklist includes easy to answer, scenario-based questions for each employee to complete, such as:
- I know the reporting protocol should I start displaying COVID-19 symptoms.
- I know that I need to avoid physical contact.
- I know reporting procedure should someone at home or in my workplace display COVID-19 symptoms.
- I have all the industry-specific PPE required for my work tasks and COVID-19 protections.
The responsibility for the implementation of controls to reduce the risk of workplace exposure falls to the employer. Companies must follow protocols to review ventilation systems, increase sanitisation processes and provide cleaning products at workstations. Despite following the necessary steps, an employee may still be susceptible to the virus.
In the event of an employee inputting a negative response to any assessment question or recording a temperature that is above the normal range, our app will automatically alert a manager. The app’s system-driven actions allow management to identify practical steps to take to reach a reasonable solution promptly.
Changes in regulations and the growing concern for the workforce have made the health and safety of employees a priority. Our app is giving companies a convenient way to keep track of employee health and public regulations in a cost-effective manner.
